Digital Camera Product Review

The Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D, priced at $1,599 (body only), is Konica Minoltas bet for the high-end digital SLR market, competing against the likes of Canons Digital Rebel and EOS-20D, Fujifilms S3 Pro, Olympus E-1 and EVOLT-E-300, and Nikon D70. What sets it apart from the competition is its Anti-shake system, which is designed to reduce the blurring effects caused by unsteady grip of the camera. The system detects outside movements and produces an inverse motion from the CCD, which is set on a movable plane. The 6.1-megapixel SLR uses Li-Ion battery and comes with a battery charger, LCD protection panel, wireless remote control and neck strap. However, you will need to purchase a memory card since this is not included in the package.

The Maxxum 7D supports both RAW and RAW+JPEG modes and comes with a 25-inch LCD display with 207,000 pixels. The camera is sturdy and firm to grip with its rubberized grip. Minolta is introducing two new lenses specifically to complement Maxxum 7Ds Anti-shake feature, which does not work well with some macro lenses. Other optional accessories available for this SLR are flashes, AC adapter, remote cable releases, focusing screens and angled viewfinder. It has loads of features that enthusiasts would ask for in a D-SLR. Photographers would be excited by the numerous mechanical controls this gadget offers.

This new model, which comes with manual controls, produces excellent, noise-free photos even at high ISO. The D-SLR also offers time-lapse shooting and white balance by color temperature options The cameras LCD shows useful camera settings, including shutter speed, aperture, exposure, and flash, basically everything you need to know when shooting photos. The Maxxum 7Ds LCD also rotates when you take pictures upright.

The Maxxum 7D will surely be a tough competition in the D-SLR market with its innovative features, excellent photo quality, and slick design, but a major drawback would have to be its high cost. Compared with other 6-megapixel D-SLRs, this camera is too pricey, more or less at the same price level as the 8-megapixel Canon D-SLR. One should carefully consider if the Anti-shake technology is worth the extra bucks.

Customer Review: a waste of money

This camera does a terrible job. It is even difficult to aim it at the spot you want to photograph. You are better off with a single use water resistant camera than with this piece of junk.

Customer Review: Sorry Excuse for a Camera!

Ditto on both of the previous reviews!!! Please take them seriously because they know what they are talking about. I would have rated this product with a negative 3 stars if I could have! Unfortunately, I purchased this as a gift for my daughter and she did not get to use it, while snorkeling, until 6 months after the purchase date, so I cannot return this piece of junk! We also followed the directions for underwater usage. We used this "camera" at a depth of less than 2 feet. The case leaked and the pictures that the camera did take were so inadequate that I wish I hadn't bothered. The camera was also complicated to use (not a "point & shoot") and timed-out/turned off automatically so quickly that it was never ready when we needed it. Definitely not user-friendly and was a nuisance and distraction while we were snorkeling because we spent too much time trying to use the camera. The real disappointment is that I would have had decent pictures if I had used a disposable camera like I have in the past!

PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on this piece of plastic. I have plenty of experience with digital devices for all sorts of media uses. Many of these, I have purchased through Amazon or other vendors. My research always pays off, but I made a real mistake on this one because I was trying to purchase a simple digital camera that my 10-year old could use under water -- my mistake -- I should have been more diligent in my research. Amazon would be doing their customers a huge favor if they would STOP SELLING THIS PRODUCT!!

Customer Review: A rocket with a camera : of course its awesome!

Launching stuff into the air is fun..ask anyone...launching stuff into the air that subsequently takes a picture movie of you doing it? Yeah...thats a great invention. LOVE this toy. Nephews loved getting it and loved playing with it. They live out in the country so it was easy to operate.

Umm...launching this in the city makes people angry, so I advise not doing that!

If you own an Apple PC, this will not work for you and you will be mad.

Windows users will enjoy this rocket. That is if you can retrieve the payload! ha ha

Customer Review: Live the flight!!!

My wife purchased this rocket for my birthday and I couldn't wait to launch it. Let me tell you that the video is very good considering that it is a micro camera in the nosecone of a rocket. It's absolutely amazing watching the liftoff, apogee, and the recovery first hand!

You can set up the rocket to record with the camera pointed up or down during the recovery. I have tried it pointing up - hoping to see the parachute, but I'm going to change it to point down. it should be a fun video to watch.

I highly recommend this rocket. Especially if you have enjoyed watching the video of the NASA rocket launches.
